GENERAL SYNOPSIS
- Altitude :
The low centred over the British Islands will move slowly towards France. A trough extending over Spain moves eastward very slowly and steers a weak to moderate southerly flow over the Alps. This flow brings moist and warm air from the Mediterranean sea.
- Surface :
Southerly weak flow in a pressure field about 1020 hPa without gradient. Persistency of moist and unstable conditions.

AIR MASS / DEVELOPMENT OF CONVECTION
SOUTHERN ALPS
- St-Auban sounding : moist and unstable air mass above the nocturnal inversion.
- Forecast evolution : after showers as soon as this morning, some bright periods could develop about midday or in the beginning of the afternoon but the cloudiness will be important all day long. The convection will produce Cu and Cu congestus with bases about 1300 m with Temp. max 20 °C, giving showers ; the risk of thunderstorm is weak.

Outlook for tomorrow :
The low will be centred over France ; the Alps will be on the influence of its south part in a westerly cyclonic flow; with northerly flow in low level. We can expect for tomorrow afternoon an air mass progressively less moist and less unstable specially on the Southeast of the Durance valley.
