Bulletin 5

We are still missing the details of some gliders. Please send them as soon as possible because we need them for the official Competition Program.

    PROVISION OF OXYGEN

    Procedure for supply of oxygen:

  • 1. Dry Breathing Oxygen (Aviation quality) will be available on site from 22 June to 13 July 1997. Oxygen may be available outside these dates by prior arrangement.
  • 2. Oxygen bottles fixed in the glider will be filled in the tie down area from a dedicated trailer holding four bulk bottles fitted to a manifold. The trailer will be at the tie down area from 7.30 to 10.30 every morning and from 18.00 to 21.00 every evening.
  • 3. Portable oxygen bottles will have to be brought every evening before 21.00 to the oxygen facility in the workshop located near the restaurant. They will be filled during the night and be available again on the next morning.
  • 4. For obvious safety reasons we request that all bottles have either a certificate or a date stamp on the bottle, showing that the bottle has passed a hydrostatic test in the last ten years and that it is certified for use with aviation oxygen. Only the operator will be present during filling operations.
  • 5. Filling pressure will be monitored and controlled with a calibrated gauge to achieve the desired bottle pressure. No contesting of the measured pressure will be accepted. The maximum pressure will range between 150 and 200 bars.
  • 6. The supply unit is fitted with a flexible hose to allow the bottles in the glider to be filled without removal from the glider. The fill valve must be easily accessible !
  • 7. Adaptors will be available to fit the following standard couplings used in oxygen supply: Eros, Bronzeavia, Höhener, RIF, AMP, MIGNON, EGV 540, Air Liquide. If you have any doubt bring your own thread, special couplings will be manufactured if necessary.
